While polishing up the upcoming video, I noticed something peculiar in the shadows.
In the first few frames before the clouds below the pipes come into view, one would think that there’s nothing but blackness. However, observant eyes will spot a smidge of a dark green colour.
Upon further inspection, it looks like Mako fumes are escaping a leaky pipe connector. It’s much more apparent when using tonal correction to increase brightness. Doing so reveals not just the Mako leak but the architecture behind the pipe which looks a lot like the underplate.
A few seconds further into the teaser trailer, we can see a plethora of Lifestream particles floating among the mist.
However, those particles can only be seen in and around but not above the mist, or more specifically, they are nowhere close to the pipe where the plume of Mako fumes is visible.
Compare this to the alleyway in Final Fantasy VII Remake’s intro cinematic where the Mako leak is the direct source of all floating Lifestream particles in the space around it.
This being said, I don’t think that the Lifestream particles floating among the mist in Final Fantasy Rebirth’s teaser trailer have the supposed Mako leak on the pipe above as their source, which means that my take on those Lifestream particles’ existence and symbolism in the upcoming video may still hold up.
